The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy conducted 02-Day Training on Gender-Based Violence for Court Staff in collaboration with UNDP. Twenty-eight court staff members from District Khyber, Swat, Chitral Lower, Bajaur, Peshawar, Kurram and Mardan participated in the training.
Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA welcomed the participants during the inaugural session and sensitized the participants to provide a conducive environment to women in courts being at the forefront. Miss. Chamila Hemma Thagana, Program Manager Rule of Law UNDP Pakistan graced the session on behalf of UNDP.
The training aimed to create awareness and understanding amongst the court staff about GBV, challenges faced by GBV victims/survivors in access to justice, especially components of Women’s Access to Justice and to provide skills and tools to better support GBV victims/survivors.
The training concluded on 3rd July, 2024. Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA, presided over the concluding ceremony. Mr. Ikhtiar Khan, Registrar, Peshawar High Court, Peshawar graced the occasion as chief guest. In his closing remarks, he emphasized the crucial role and responsibilities of court staff, particularly in the context of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases.
