02 – DAY TRAINING ON GENDER BASED VIOLENCE FOR COURT STAFF (APRIL 29-30, 2024)

Day-1
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy inaugurated the third batch of 02-Day Training on Gender-Based Violence for Court Staff in collaboration with UNDP. Twenty-two court staff members from District Bajaur and Kurram participated in the training.
Ms. Farah Jamshed, Director General KPJA welcomed the participants during the inaugural session and emphasized the importance of creating a welcoming and supportive environment for victims and survivors of GBV. Ms. Caitlin Chittenden, Senior Rule of Law and Justice Reforms Specialist, United Nations Development Programme graced the session on behalf of UNDP.
Day-1
First Academic Session:
Mr. Sadiq Ullah, Civil Judge/Judicial Magistrate led the initial sessions where he explored the “Key Concepts and Context” and “Types of GBV”. Subsequently, Syed Yasir Shabbir, Additional District & Sessions Judge explained the concepts of “Myths & stereotypes”, and “Trauma” faced by victims of GBV.
Day-2
Emphasizing the critical issue of access to justice for survivors, Ms. Faryal Zia Mufti, District & Sessions Judge/ Director Instructions, KPJA led the first two sessions on ” Challenges for Survivors to Access to Justice”, and “Components of Women’s Access to Justice”.
The final session of the day focused on practical application. Mr. Azhar Ali, District & Sessions Judge/ Station Director KPJA, led this session by presenting "International and National Best Practices in Survivor-Centric Court Processes and Legal Aid for GBV Victims/Survivors." To further enhance learning, participants were entrusted with roles, allowing them to gain hands-on experience.
