On the subject of “Gender based violence” the KP Judicial Academy, with collaboration of UNDP, arranged 02-Day orientation session for forth batch of court staff. The court personnel from targeted districts i-e Khyber, Swat, Kohat, Peshawar and Mardan are participating in the session.
Today, inaugural ceremony held. Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA welcomed the participants and highlighted the aims and objectives of the session.
Ms. Salma Zeb, Legal Aid & ADR Officer, Rule of Law Programme, attended the session on behalf of UNDP.
Mr. Asif Raza, Senior Civil Judge, Hangu led the initial session where he interacted with the participants on “Key Concepts and Context” and “Types of GBV”. Thereafter, Ms. Zeba Rasheed, District & Sessions Judge/ Judge Consumer Court, Kohat explained the concepts of “Myths & stereotypes”, and “Trauma” faced by victims of GBV.
The second day of the training started with reflections from previous day. The participants shared their feedback.
Ms. Faryal Zia Mufti, District & Sessions Judge/ Director Instructions, KPJA conducted sessions on Challenges for survivors to access justice and Components of Women’s access to justice.
Mr. Asad Hameed Khan, Member Inspection Team, Peshawar High Court, Peshawar leads the sessions on International and national best Practices Survivor centric court processes and Legal Aid and Handling GBV victims/survivors: Role play exercise.
Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General, KPJA presided over the concluding ceremony. Ms. Caitlin Chittenden, Rule of Law Specialist, UNDP also expressed her views. Certificates were conferred to the participants at the end of concluding ceremony.
