The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), in collaboration with the Peshawar High Court (PHC), UNDP, European Union, UN Women, and UNODC, successfully concluded a two-day workshop (April 22–23, 2025) at the PHC on Annual Workplans and Performance Indicators for the Provincial Justice Committee (PJC) and District Criminal Justice Coordination Committees (DCJCCs).
Organized under the Deliver Justice Project, the workshop focused on strengthening coordination among justice institutions to address systemic issues such as backlog of cases, prison overcrowding, and gender-based violence—aligned with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rule of Law Roadmap 2023–2028.
The opening session was graced by Hon’ble Senior Puisne Judge Mr. Justice Ijaz Anwar, who emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration for ensuring timely and fair access to justice. Distinguished participants included judges, prosecutors, police officials, bar representatives, and development partners.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Muhammad Zeb Khan, Registrar PHC, outlined the workshop's objectives to improve coordination and performance monitoring mechanisms within the justice sector.
On the second day, participants engaged in group activities to formulate practical recommendations, which will be incorporated into a forthcoming strategic report aimed at strengthening justice delivery mechanisms at both provincial and district levels.
The concluding ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court, Mr. Justice S.M. Attique Shah, who distributed certificates among the participants. His Lordship commended the collaborative spirit of the workshop and emphasized the need for integrated efforts to enhance justice delivery and uphold the rule of law across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
