Dr. Qasim Ayub, Staff Scientist at Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, a world renowned Biotechnology scientist visited KP Judicial Academy and delivered expert lecture on The DNA Recipe for Life, Ethical and Legal Challenges in the combined session of Senior Judicial Officers, Probationers Civil Judges and ongoing training newly Inducted Lawyers across the province. Dr. Qasim has more than a decade experience in human population, evolutionary and disease genomics. He conducted genomic analyses of DNA variation in humans and closely related primate species to try and ascertain what the distribution patterns of these variants in different parts of the world tell us about our past and identify variants that are associated with disease and evolutionary adaptation to climate, diet and pathogens as humans moved out of Africa. He is currently exploring high-altitude adaptation in the Himalayas. Dr. Qasim have more than 30 publications on the subject at his credit and recognized worldwide.
Participants of both sessions took keen interest in the subject and asked many questions. DG Academy and Dean Faculty thanked the learned speaker for sparing time and speaking to the Judicial officers and Lawyers.
