The KP Judicial Academy broke new ground this week. It organized 2-day training for Public Information Officers (PIOs). The training was conducted on the request of the newly constituted Provincial Information Commission, KP. The PIOs are designated under the KP Right to Information Act, 2013. They were drawn from different provincial departments: Archives, CM Secretariat, Education and Law, to name a few. The training aiming at sensitizing the PIOs to their responsibilities under the law. It also touched various other relevant aspects, such as, the human right dimension of the right to information, the Islamic perspective of access to information. The course focused on the practical aspects of access to information. It is expected that the course will help build capacity of the PIOs in the effective implementation of the law, encouraging accountability and transparency in the long. A total of eight batches, each comprising 40 PIOs received the training.
