The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy, in collaboration with Asma Jehangir Legal Aid Cell (AGHS), organized a two days (02) specialised training for the trial court judges on Anti-Rape Legal framework. Twenty-three (23) Additional District & Session judges across the province attended the training.
Mr. Muhammad Shoaib, Director General (acting) welcomed the participants. In his keynote address, he highlighted objectives of Islamic Shariah with regard to offence of rape. He expressed hope that session will provide an interactive platform to the participants to better understand application of Anti- Rape legal regime. Ms. Nida Aly, Executive Director, AGHS gave brief introduction of training session and its highlighted objectives.
The activity focuses on “gender sensitization”, “sexual gender-based violence cases and road blocks to justice”, “ingredients of rape”, “application of Anti- Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act 2021 and Rules 2022”, “evidentiary matters in cases SGBV” and “managing vicarious trauma exposure to judges dealing with sexual gender-based violence cases”.
