Visit Of The Secretary National Commission On Human Rights To Kp Judicial Academy Peshawar On 7th September, 2017

  A delegation from National Commission on Human Rights, Government of Pakistan visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy, Peshawar, on September 07, 2017 and had a meeting with the Director General and Directors of the Academy. The Meeting was attended by Mr. Masood Khan, DG KP Judicial Academy, in Chair, Mr. Mashood Mirza, Secretary Human Rights  Commission of Pakistan, Mr. Aftab Alam, Director General Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Mr. Raza Rehman, Research & Publication officer,  Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Asif khan, Senior Director Administration KPJA, Mr. Sohail Sheraz Noor Sani, Senior Director Research & Publication KPJA and Mr. Zia-ur-Rehman, Director Instructions-II, KPJA.
     The Director General appraised the delegation about the working of the Academy and the on-going activities. He said that capacity building of the main stakeholders of the Justice System and awareness of the masses about their rights is the mandate of the Academy. Since the human rights and justice are always interdependent, so the subject of human rights also comes within the ambit of the Academy`s working. The Director General further told the delegation that KP judicial Academy acts as a think tank for the Peshawar High Court, Peshawar, and provides its recommendations/opinions in the form of reports.
      The Worthy DG KPJA stressed upon the need to make the stakeholders of justice system and the general public understand what the justice system is and how it should and should not work. In this regard KPJA and NCHR can collaborate in areas; i)Dissemination of information through utilization of Radio Meezan, ii) Training of Judges, lawyers, prosecutors on case management and iii) Training on Probation laws
       The Secretary NCHR dilated upon the working of his organization and informed the members about the initiatives taken regarding human trafficking and child abuse. He said that NCHR can collaborate with KPJA in areas of Investigation, Thematic Studies, Promotion of Human Rights awareness, Rights of children in conflict with law and training regarding Human Rights.
        The two sides agreed to work on areas of mutual interest and also agreed to hold further meetings in future for achievement of the above objectives.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks to and from the Chair.
         Later on, the delegation also visited different wings of KP Judicial Academy and briefed about the activities of the these wings of the Academy.
