Women Rights Training for Judicial Officers

A batch of 25 mix group of civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates participated in a 2 day training here at the Academy. The training was organized in collaboration with the Aurat Foundation Pakistan, Peshawar office. This was the first exclusive training on women rights. The topics of the sessions included ‘an overview of CEDAW’ (by Shabina Ayaz, Aurat Foundation), ‘women rights in Islam’ (by Qazi Ataullah, KPJA), ‘gender concepts’ (by Sherin Javed, Aurat Foundation), ‘women rights: focus on cultural relativism’ (by Dr. Khurshid Iqbal, KPJA), and ‘gender language in Pakistani case law’ (by Maliha Zia, Aurat Foundation). The training concluded on 28th April. Dr. Khurshid Iqbal, Dean of Faculty awarded certificates to the participants.
