The Academy organized a One-day workshop for the District Judiciary on International Humanitarian Law in collaboration with the Research Society of International Law, Islamabad (RSIL) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Pakistan.
Following were core thematic areas of the workshop:
• Anti-Terrorism Act 1997: Impact and Challenges;
• Introduction to International Humanitarian Law with emphasis on Law on non-International Armed Conflicts, Use of Force, Preventive Detention;
• Domestic Application: Counter-Terrorism and Militancy in Pakistan, with focus on Pakistan’s Counter-terrorism Legislative landscape and Domestic Humanitarian Law, Actions (in Aid of Civil Power) Regulation, 2011; and
• International Law and its relevance for the Judiciary in Pakistan.
As many as twenty-two judicial officers from various districts of the province participated in the activity. Dr. Khurshid Iqbal, Director General KPJA, distributed certificates amongst the participants.
