ONE-WEEK TRAINING ON LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT WITH FOCUS ON PERSONAL WELLBEING FOR SENIOR CIVIL JUDGES / AALA ILAQA QAZIS (13-18 JULY, 2026)

From July 13 to 18, 2026, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) hosted a transformative "One-Week Training on Leadership & Management with Focus on Personal Wellbeing" for 17 Senior Civil Judges/Illaqa Qazis. This program, implemented under the framework of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP), was co-designed to address the evolving "360º leadership" role of judicial officers who serve as adjudicators, administrators, and financial stewards.

A Visionary Start The training was formally inaugurated by Mr. Justice SM Attique Shah, Honorable Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court and Chairman of the Board of Governors, KPJA. His lordship emphasized that judicial assertiveness and strategic insight are critical for the effective administration of justice in modern times. Director General KPJA, Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, welcomed the participants, setting the stage for a week of intensive learning.

Comprehensive Thematic Modules The curriculum followed a blended experiential learning approach, integrating conceptual understanding with practical application through several core pillars:

  • Strategic Leadership: Participants explored leadership styles and case-flow management with Mr. Farhan Aziz Khawaja (DG, Civil Services Academy Lahore), focusing on delay reduction and resource optimization.
  • Financial & Administrative Stewardship: To enhance their roles as Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), judges received training on Public Financial Management from Mr. Tariq Bajwa (Former Governor State Bank) and Procurement frameworks from Mr. Farrukh Bashir Qazi (Director Training, PPRA).
  • Digital Transformation: In a forward-looking module, Dr. Awais Adnan (IMSciences) introduced the judges to AI applications, including Large Language Models (LLMs), NotebookLM, and Agentic AI, aimed at improving research and documentation efficiency.
  • Human Resources & Performance: Sessions led by Academy Directors focused on merit-based HR practices and performance appraisals to foster a culture of accountability.

Prioritizing Personal Wellbeing Distinct from traditional legal training, this program placed a heavy emphasis on the individual. Dr. Zia ud din (Agriculture University Peshawar) conducted sessions on health and nutrition, while Brig. Dr. Mowadat Hussain Rana led a critical module on stress management and psychological resilience, equipping judges with self-regulation techniques for high-demand judicial environments.

A Graded Academic Rigor True to KPJA's commitment to excellence, the program was strictly graded. Participants were evaluated on punctuality, professional conduct, and their performance in a comprehensive Post-Training Assessment Test that covered all taught modules. Throughout the week, judges utilized the Academy's Learning Management System (LMS) to access resources and complete assessments.

The week culminated in a Concluding Ceremony chaired by the Director General, Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, in the presence of all Academy Directors. The DG commended the participants for their engagement and distributed certificates, reaffirming KPJA’s mission to nurture judicial leaders who serve the Constitution with clarity, compassion, and conviction.

As the 17Senior Civil Judges/Aala Illaqa Qazis return to their respective stations, they carry with them not only enhanced legal and administrative skills but also the tools for a more balanced and resilient professional life.
