KP JUDICIAL ACADEMY JOINS CLOSING SEMINAR ON GENDER‑RESPONSIVE JUSTICE (JUNE 10, 2026)

PESHAWAR (June 10, 2026): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) participated in the Closing Seminar of the project “Improving Gender Parity for Strengthening Gender-Responsive Justice in Pakistan” held at Peshawar.

The seminar brought together representatives of the judiciary, prosecution, police, development partners, and civil society organizations to reflect on achievements and discuss future strategies for strengthening gender-responsive justice and improving access to justice for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).

Representing KPJA, Mr. Muhammad Shoaib, Senior Director (Research & Publications), and Ms. Farzeen Shahid, Station Director, Radio Meezan, KPJA, attended the event. The Senior Director delivered a speech on behalf of the Director General KPJA, highlighting the Academy’s collaboration with Shirkat Gah and UN Women in implementing capacity-building initiatives for judges and prosecutors from Khyber, Kohat, Peshawar, and Swat.

He highlighted that the project successfully trained 76 justice sector professionals, including 46 women and 30 men. The trainings focused on promoting gender parity and enhancing understanding of gender-based violence, survivor-centered justice, victim and witness protection, and trauma-informed judicial practices. He further emphasized KPJA’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of judicial officers and other justice sector stakeholders across the province and underscored the need for continued collaboration in areas such as trauma-informed justice, digital GBV response, judicial ethics, and legal aid for survivors.

During the seminar, organizers and participants acknowledged and appreciated KPJA’s valuable contribution to the capacity building of judges and prosecutors and stressed the importance of continuing such training initiatives. The event concluded with a shared commitment among stakeholders to further strengthen gender-responsive justice mechanisms and promote equitable access to justice in Pakistan.
