PRE-PROMOTION STATUTORY TRAINING FOR SENIOR CIVIL JUDGES / JUDICIAL MAGISTRATES/AALA ILLAQA QAZI (FEBRUARY 16 TO APRIL15, 2026)
The Additional District & Sessions Judges adjudicate serious offences such as murder. It requires them to have an adequate grasp of the session’s trial procedure, including framing of charge, the recording of evidence, and examination of the accused. They must ensure that they follow such a procedure that meets the constitutional mandate of a fair trial.
On the civil side, these judge exercise powers of the first appellate forum, and their findings of fact are, as a rule, final. The High Court Rules and Orders, referring to this aspect, say that the first appellate forums should realize this responsibility and” should take care to see that the findings of fact on which their decision is based are clear and precise and to indicate that all relevant evidence, oral as well as documentary, has been duly considered”.
Importantly, these judges also exercise specialized jurisdiction under various special laws, which requires them to have a sound knowledge of the procedural shift contained therein.
The training shall be seven week, including a country visit. The schedule of activities annexed to the concept note explains the training activities to be conducted over the total period. The following are the training modules; an elaborate description of each is given in the Training Manual.
