KPJA Hosts 5th Annual Women Lawyers Conference to Address Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (21 October 2025)

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council (KPBC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), successfully hosted the 5th Annual Women Lawyers Conference under the EU-funded project “Promoting the Rule of Law and Enhancing the Criminal Justice System (2022–2025)” at Serena Hotel, Peshawar.
This flagship event brought together women lawyers from across the province to discuss challenges and opportunities within the justice system, particularly focusing on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV), workplace harassment, and the defense of women’s rights in both physical and digital spaces.
The conference featured insightful sessions and interactive group work, including:
A presentation on the findings of diagnostic research on TFGBV and its legal implications.
A panel discussion led by Hon. Ms. Rubab Mehdi (Chairperson, Ombudsperson Office), Mr. Sardar Qadeer (Advocate), Ms. Bubbli Malik (Gender Minority Representative), and Ms. Mehwish Muhib Kaka Khel (Advocate).
Thematic group sessions on workplace harassment, policy reforms, and reclaiming public and digital spaces for women and marginalized populations.
Ms. Hina Khan, Acting Director General KPJA, welcomed participants and reaffirmed the Academy’s ongoing commitment to promoting gender equality within the justice sector.
The event concluded with closing remarks by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice S. M. Attique Shah, Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, who emphasized the judiciary’s role in ensuring that women lawyers receive equitable opportunities and a safe, enabling environment to thrive in their profession.
The conference reaffirmed KPJA’s mission to enhance access to justice for women and less privileged groups, contributing to a more inclusive and gender-responsive justice system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
