ORIENTATION ON USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & MODERN TECHNOLOGIES IN JUSTICE SYSTEMS (20 – 21 SEPTEMBER 2023)

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy organized a two-day orientation session on use of AI & Modern Technologies in Justice Sector with logistic support of Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan. Twenty four (24) judicial officers across KPK attended the two days orientation session.

Mr. Mohammad Zeb Member Inspection Team, Peshawar High Court, graced inaugural session as the Chief Guest. Mr. Muhammad Shoaib, Director General (Acting) welcomed all the participants and highlighted significance of the Artificial Intelligence and Modern Technologies, in increasing efficiency of and access to justice services. He also underlined key objectives of the session which included developing an understanding of AI and modern technologies in justice systems and sensitizing participants on potential benefits and risks of employing AI powered tools in administration of justice. The Chief Guest in his keynote address appreciated the initiative of the Academy. He expressed hope that the session will contribute to broadening vision of the participants on use of modern technologies and AI in judicial institutions.

Key discourses included “Concept & Understanding of Artificial Intelligence & AI Ethics”, “Trends of AI & Technology across Globe”, “Pakistan’s Technology Landscape”, “AI adoption in Justice Sector: Prospects & Challenges” and “ Pakistan’s AI Future.”

In the concluding ceremony, class representative Dr. Sheraz Khan, Civil Judge acknowledged efforts of the Academy for taking the initiative and providing a platform to initiate discussion on such an important area. He recommended that duration of training on the subject may be increased. In his brief concluding note, the Director General, appreciated enthusiastic participation of the trainees and assured that all their recommendations would be considered while designing future programs.  

The Director General distributed certificates amongst participants, before formal conclusion of the ceremony.
