Workshop on International Humanitarian Law

Research Society of International Law, Islamabad (RSIL) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Pakistan organized a day long workshop for the District Judiciary on International Humanitarian Law at the Academy. The core thematic areas of the workshop were  Anti-Terrorism Act 1997: Impact and Challenges; Introduction to International Humanitarian Law with emphasis on Law on non-International Armed Conflicts, Use of Force, Preventive Detention,  Domestic Application: Counter-Terrorism and Militancy in Pakistan, with focus on Pakistan’s Counter-terrorism Legislative landscape and Domestic Humanitarian Law, Actions (in Aid of Civil Power) Regulation, 2011; and International Law and its relevance for the Judiciary in Pakistan.

Twenty five Additional District and Sessions Judges from various districts of the province participated specially District Abbottabad and Kohat attended the sessions through Video Conferencing System (Zoom).

Dr. Khurshid Iqbal, Director General KPJA, distributed certificates amongst the participants during the concluding ceremony.
